1)The Northern Bobwhite, once a familiar upland game bird across much of West Virginia, has experienced dramatic population declines due to habitat loss, changing land use, and severe winter weather. This presentation explores the species’ historical presence, ecological needs, and current conservation status in the state, highlighting ongoing efforts to restore early successional habitats and opportunities for landowners and partners to support Bobwhite recovery.
